Reviving the 10-year-old “Scream” franchise without the guidance of the late Wes Craven was a questionable choice. And this 2022 installments of “Ready Ort” director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett don't match the originality and cold of Craven's previous article. But it's still a fun goofy for fans of the series, offering a sly commentary on the trends of the “Legacy Sequel,” which juices up the series by mixing old stars, new faces and fan-friendly Easter eggs (formula, which in its true “scream” form also embraces this film).

Director Ali Astor of “Mid Somar” and “View is Fearing” had taken groundbreaking photos with the slow burns of this horrifying horror thriller. All players bring A Game A, but the shock here is Tonicollet. Tonicolette was an open-wound performance as an abused and abused mother, and easily won the best actress Oscar nomination from the well-known and unreliable award-winning body for the genre films.

This 2022 comedy by director Tom Gorman (who wrote the film with Kevin Etten) sounded like Nicholas Cage's “Being John Malkovich.” And that is by the hilarious perception of Cage's unstable career and personal idiosyncraticity (and the clever use of the actor as a younger, more wilderness co-star). But the real joy of the film comes from Pedro Pascal, and is enjoyably dimmed as a wealthy playboy and a Cage Superfan. They become an unexpected and powerful comedy team, strangeness and fanboy, and produce laughter and goodwill even with the more predictable home stretch of the photo.

Jennifer Lawrence has always seemed like a researcher, by contrast. She starred in tough action franchises (the “The Hunger Games” and “X-Men” films) and serious drama (the “Silver Lining Playbook” where she won an Oscar), and came out in a charming Goofball-like interview. With the young Virgin, well, show him the rope.
I'll leave again:
