The European fencing championship featured a controversial protest against Team Israel in Tallinn, Estonia on Saturday night.
Members of the 23 fencing teams, which won the Swiss silver medal, turned their backs on Israeli gold medalists during a medal ceremony while the Israeli national anthem was being played.
Israel defeated Switzerland 45-34 to win gold.

After the incident, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sarl denounced Switzerland in protest.
Israeli fencing teams have faced previous protests by opposition in recent years.
The Iraqi national fencing team has withdrawn from a match against Israel at the World Fencing Championship held in Istanbul in May 2023.

FIFA's Disciplinary Committee was asked to consider allegations of discrimination against Team Israel and had to consider a suspension after being requested by PFA, the Palestinian Football Federation. The PFA specifically accused the Israeli federal IFA of violations of international law by the Israeli government, discrimination against Arab players, and encompassing clubs in Palestinian territory.
FIFA did not halt Israel, and IFA later condemned PFA for accusations in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.
