Exclusive: As tax day approaches, Senate Doge leaders announced on Monday a new effort aimed at cracking down on federal officials who have won billions of dollars of outstanding taxes.
Sen. Joni Ernst of R-Iowa has introduced tax delinquents, and late debt is the government official liability (Tax Dodger) Act, and the tax itself is to deposit the bank in response to reports of tax taxes by scofflaws.
The Tax Dodger Act requires the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to publish an annual report on tax delinquency for current and retired federal employees, including those who have not filed 1040 or other tax returns.
“It's ridiculous that nearly 150,000 bureaucrats refuse to pay their taxes while hardworking Americans spend money on Uncle Sam,” Ernst told Fox News Digital.

The bill also establishes a new section of the law that allows federal employment applicants to consider ineligible for employment if they have a “seriously arrears” tax liability, unless they grant an already difficult exemption.
“If you don't pay taxes, you shouldn't work for the federal government,” Ernst said.
“I'm ending the “rules for you, but not for me” in Washington. ”
Ernst highlighted a recent general report from the Treasury, which showed that 96% of IRS employees were found to be tax-compliant, but that more than 2,000 employees had historical balances totaling more than $12 million as of the end of last year.
Meanwhile, the 2023 IRS report found that a total of 149,000 federal employees in 2021 were owed $1.5 billion in tax liabilities.
Senate leaders say Trump has “already won”
She wrote to Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent in March that Americans and many lawmakers “lost confidence in the IRS” and that he has the opportunity to address several issues that do not require Congressional approval as the new ultimate boss of Congress.
Lawmakers are said to have upgraded the IRS' outdated technology, referring to the institution's past political weaponization, including Obama-era staff member Lois Lerner who was said to have targeted conservative groups.
As part of her first efforts last fall, Ernst has also launched an IRS audit call to build a partnership with Doge leader Elon Musk.

If passed, the bill requires reports on tax bureaucrats to be sent annually to the Personnel Management Bureau, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, and the House Oversight Committee.
Additionally, agency leaders can take personnel action until the firing of federal employees if they underestimate their tax liabilities or file a return, or have a manager or judicial decision.
