Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has earned more than $93 million in his NFL career, which he has plenty to spend on a birthday present for Taylor Swift. But the blue-collar father from Ohio apparently doesn't want to overdo the occasion.
Kelce's father, Ed Kelce, said he plans to spend only $10 on gifts for his son's pop star girlfriend this year.

“I'm not going to knock Taylor Swift off with a $100,000 gift. I have to spend $10 and get her something that will tug at her heartstrings,” Ed said during an appearance on the show. “Baskin & Phelps” Podcast. “Then she just becomes clingy. She has to find something to trigger the emotion.”
Ed, a former steelworker and Coast Guard member, sees no point in spending a lot of money on someone like Swift, who as a billionaire has the means to get anything he wants. .

“The amount doesn't mean anything,” he says. “There's nothing they want that they don't already have. You have to look beyond that. You have to dig down and come up with something special.”
Swift turned 35 on Friday, marking the second full year of her relationship with the NFL star.
Kelce is under increasing pressure to propose to Swift after Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen got engaged to actress Hailee Steinfeld in late November. Fans took to every social media channel to call on Kelce to take a knee for Swift, now that the two are officially in their late 30s.
When that day comes, Swift will likely consider having Ed and Kelsey's mother Donna as a stepparent, but based on Ed's philosophy, she probably won't expect expensive gifts from either of her parents. Probably not.
Ed started his career in the steel industry but comes from a military background.
“Everyone in my family before me was in the military,” Ed said in a February 2023 episode of Travis and brother Jason's New Heights podcast. “We're also talking about families who survived World War II.'' That's why everyone did it because of that background.

Ed did not join the Army due to a previous knee injury. He joined the Coast Guard, but was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and had to leave boot camp.
After joining the steel industry, Ed made sure to have his sons Travis and Jason work together in the factory to show them what the job was like.
“I take my helmet, my safety glasses, my boots, the whole nine yards,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “I told them, 'You can have a job like your mom's, or you can have a job like mine.'”
