The figure skating community has been felt by the tragedy of airlines in the past.
The 18 members of the US figure skating team were killed in a crash drop on an airplane at Bergcampan Hout in Belgium. Lawrence Owen and Stephe Westerfield were one of the people who were killed in the Crash drop. They were thought to be the new stars of sports and were preparing for the Olympic bidding.
There were 73 people on the 548 flight. New York Daily News quoted an investigator and reported that the case was likely to be a jet stabilizer.

The cause of the crash was determined to be due to a pilot error.
