New York Attorney General Leticia James has been denounced mortgage fraud after a shocking allegation by the Trump administration.
In a document obtained by The Ingraham Angle of Fox News Channel, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, accusing James of mortgage fraud.
FHFA director William Plute said in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondy that James appears to have falsified records to meet certain lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms.
Pulte cited the Virginia property that James allegedly claimed as her primary residence, and the property she claimed as a four-unit structure rather than a five-person.
The court name was a new judge in Trump civil fraud case before reassigning the previous judge.

Jonathan Turley, a contributor to Fox News and law professor at George Washington University, told Ingraham that the irony of James's sarcasm was accused of forging records was “fully crushed.”
“This is the person who indicted Trump other than tearing the label from the mattress, and among the charges brought in New York, the civil case was a criminal case, and made false or misleading statements to financial institutions,” Turley said. “As for James, there are very few questions here if she applies the Leticia James standard she created. This seems pretty easy.”
He explained that the Trump administration is saying this isn't her main residence.

James has also been accused of stating that her father was husband to file as a married couple, Tarley added.
“The Supreme Court said at the beginning of March that it wanted to know not only misleading statements, but false statements based on sections like 10-14, in a case called Thompson,” Turley said. “These are misleading statements. They are either your main residence or not. You are married to your father, or he is your father.”
DOJ and James did not respond to Fox News on the issue.
The matter has been indicted in the past, but as Turley said from Ingraham's angle, “the document itself is very awful.”

The New York Post reported that the property James purchased with her father had documented that in 1983 and 2000, the parties were listed as “husband and wife.”
“This was a long time ago, but a representative of Ms. James raises serious concerns about the validity of her mortgage application,” Pulte wrote.
James filed civil fraud cases against the Trump organization and its senior leader, President Donald Trump in 2022, frequently sitting in court through lawsuits, celebrating Trump's prosecution at the Manhattan Criminal Trial over a 34-count business record. Trump was ordered to pay a $454 million civil fraud ruling in James' lawsuit against him. This is currently under appeal.

So far, in 2025, James has led at least five legal actions against the Trump administration. This has resulted in a coalition of state attorney generals suing the federal government to stop access to the Treasury's internal systems, and another lawsuit that significantly cuts grants to research institutions and universities.
