Exclusive: The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday the creation of a Title IX Special Investigation Team in conjunction with the Department of Education. The new initiative aims to address the “increasing volume” of Title IX cases amid the chaos of recent controversial cases involving women's sports and trans-athletes in women's sports.
The DOJ has provided an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital citing previous policies under the Joe Biden administration that allow transport to women and girls' sports due to circumstances the new investigator team is trying to address.
“Women across America have been stripped of their rights over the past four years by the Biden administration, which allowed men to compete in women's sports. They put their safety at risk, stealing scholarships and stripping them of their hard-earned awards,” the statement read.
“This task force was created with its sole mission to chase bad actors who continue to put young women at risk with awakened gender ideology. It leverages all the legal resources available to ensure that states and organizations follow Title IX to protect women's civil rights and competitive sports.”

The Biden administration has taken steps from the first day of the former president's term to ensure it can be transported to women's and women's sports.
On Biden's inauguration day in January 2021, Biden signed an executive order to “prevent and fight discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation.”
The order included a section titled “Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to toilets, locker rooms or school sports.”
In March 2023, Democrats advocated the Transgender Bill of Rights and proposed a resolution that “recognizes the federal obligation to develop and implement the Transgender Bill of Rights.” The resolution specifically calls for federal law to enable biological men to participate in team sports and gender identity and optimal programs.
In April 2023, Biden's Department of Education proposed a change in rules that would punish schools to prevent trans athletes from competing in women's sports.
The proposition was entitled “Gender-based non-discrimination in educational programs or federally supported activities: Gender-related eligibility criteria for male and female athletic teams.”
The rules would have banned individual states from banning participation in single sex sports by gender identity rather than simply gender. There are 23 states in the United States that have laws restricting trans athletes from competing as women in public school sports.

In April 2024, Biden issued a sweeping Title IX rewrite that issued a prohibition of “gender” discrimination in schools to prohibit “gender” discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, and “pregnancy or related status.” The rule came into effect on August 1, and for the first time the law stated that discrimination based on gender includes conduct related to a person's gender identity.
It led to more than 20 lawyer generals suing rules, claiming it was inconsistent with some of their state laws that prevent transgender students from participating in women's sports.
The Supreme Court terminated Biden's urgent request in August to enforce a rewrite of a state that refused to be rewritten.
When the election took place in November, Biden's record on the issue may have backfired his party as he lost the White House, Senate and House of Representatives.
A national exit poll conducted by the US Legislative Action Committee for Women of concern found that 70% of moderate voters had seen the issue of “Donald Trump playing girls and women's sports.”
Additionally, 6% said it was the most important question of all, and 44% said it was “very important.”

After President Donald Trump took office, he signed an executive order on February 5th banning women and women's sports trans athletes. However, many Democrat-led states have refused to follow the order despite most Democrats opposed to trans-inclusion.
A recent New York Times/Ipsos survey found that the majority of Americans, including the majority of Democrats, believe that trans athletes should not be allowed to compete in women's sports. Of the 2,128 participants, 79% said that biological men identified as women should not be allowed to participate in female sports.
Of the 1,025 identified as Democrats or Democrats they rely on, 67% said trans athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.
Currently, the DOE and DOJ are taking initiatives to ensure that Trump's agenda is implemented to protect girls and female athletes and that those who oppose it face consequences.
