In an emotional and widely shared moment, President Donald J. Trump spoke in person with Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old American and Israeli soldier who was recently released from Hamas prisoners on a phone captured on camera and released by the White House.
“President,” Alexander greeted Trump at the start of the visibly moving call. “You're the only reason I'm here. You saved my life.”
The phone conversation that took place while Alexander was recovering at Tel Aviv Sawaraski Medical Center comes days after his dramatic release from Gaza, who was held hostage for more than 580 days after Hamas' abduction on October 7, 2023.

President Trump greeted Edan with a bit of humour and humility, saying, “You're a much bigger celebrity than me, so I'm talking to you.”
Trump has also expressed American solidarity and the administration's commitment to bringing all hostages into the house during the call.
“You're American and we love you,” Trump told Alexander. “We'll take care of you, and your parents are incredible. I saw your mother. She was pushing me a little.
“Like a good mom!” cried Edan's mother in the background.

The Heartfelt Exchange was posted online by the official White House account and quickly became a virus, praising the display of humanity and international unity from the entire political spectrum.
Alexander's release was coordinated in part by senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Adam Berler amid increasing diplomatic pressure and quiet negotiations in the US.
Trump previously showed his determination to ensure the freedoms of American civilians held overseas, making Alexander's case a top priority.

The Alexander family, along with the negotiation team and the Israeli Defence Forces, issued a statement in which they thanked President Trump directly, calling the result a “miracle rooted in strength, diplomacy and prayer.”
Edan Alexander's homecoming rekindled calls to bring home the remaining hostages still held in Gaza.

A coalition of 65 former hostages recently signed a letter urging both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “build on this breakthrough” and to step up efforts for a comprehensive agreement to ensure the safe return of all hostages.
Prime Minister Netanyahu acknowledged the success of the combined efforts, saying, “This was achieved thanks to our military pressure and the diplomatic pressure applied by President Trump. This is a victory combination.”
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
