Each year, NFL owners voted for potential rules changes heading into the upcoming season, with one proposal in particular sparking widespread debate.
The Green Bay Packers have submitted a proposal to ban the famous “tash push” play of the Philadelphia Eagles. Here, quarterback Jalen Hurts was pushed forward in a short yardage situation, particularly at the touchdown goal line.
There is a lot of debate as to whether play should remain in the game, but President Donald Trump showed which side he was on Monday afternoon at the team's White House celebration for the Super Bowl LIX victory.

Trump's 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, who were present in New Orleans, mentioned his first touchdown score.
“The Eagles scored a touchdown for their signature play: The Tush Push. “They're talking about getting rid of that play, I understand. They should keep it. What do you think Saquon (Berkeley) is?
“I like it. It's kind of exciting and different.”

NFL owners are expected to continue discussing the potential ban on the play until the next owner's meeting in Minnesota from May 20th to 21st.
The Packers had 16 teams supporting the proposal, but a minimum of 24 owners must approve the changes for it to pass.
The change in the rules states that it has the ability to immediately push offensive players bans and receive the snaps right behind the snap.

The NFL typically does not approve rules that target one particular team. It's a legitimate play, but the Eagles have been very cashed over the past three seasons. Only the Buffalo bill is far from the Eagles' success, using a fair amount last season with league MVP quarterback Josh Allen.
But Trump hopes the league will return to what has changed in the 2024 season: kickoff.
“I want to see you want to do something,” he said. “But I want to go back to normal kickoff. We don't like kickoffs where no one is moving. The ball is in the air and no one is moving.”
NFL owners have changed kickoff structure for the 2025 season. The touchback is marked at the 35-yard line, and is a move that is expected to increase the return rate.

But Trump isn't happy that players aren't running downfield like they used to. They have to wait until the ball touches the ground or until the man on the way home comes into contact with the ball.
Trump, the Eagles and everyone else who love the NFL are patiently waiting to see if Tash's push stays in the game.
