White House press director Karoline Leavitt responded to questions on Wednesday about the recent Democrat rebellion against keeping trans athletes out of women and girls' sports.
During the news briefing, Leavitt scolded the party with a persistent attitude towards the issue, despite suggesting that most Americans would oppose trans-inclusion in women's sports.
“You are a women's party and you cannot stand up to the basic laws and order and immigration reform that support men in women's sports and protect women in this country,” she said.
President Donald Trump worked on trans-inclusion in girls and girls' sports in his speech Tuesday night by honoring guest Payton McNabb, a former girl volleyball player who suffered a permanent brain injury when a trans-athlete spiked the ball in her face in 2022.
However, McNab's story only encountered applause from the Republican side of the room, as the Democrats remained silent.

But the day after Senate Democrats blocked protections for women and girls in sports law, Democrats wore pink during Trump's joint speech.
“I think the message Americans should take from last night is that they have a president who is committed to doing what they are right, and while I think it's very ironic that Democrat women were wearing pink to support our fellow women, they were barely killed by men on the volleyball court and couldn't stand on a seriously injured woman,” Lewitt said.
McNabb told Fox News Digital that the silence throughout the aisle is “heartbreaking.”
“The fact that even their own daughters didn't go through this bill is just totally heartbreaking. I'm not alone. There are a lot of female athletes who share their stories, not something they don't know about.
“It's just sad…it's just embarrassing.”

Meanwhile, some Democratic governors across the country are preventing state public schools from following Trump's executive orders to keep biological men out of women and girls' sports.
Maine, California, Minnesota and Massachusetts are all under investigation by the Department of Education for potential Title IX violations after high schools were instructed to continue transathletic in women's sports, contrary to Trump's orders. The department is also investigating the Washington school district on the same issue. The district voted to ban Girls Sports trans athletes and opposes current state law.
“The president has pledged to ensure that the state is responsible if he continues to allow men in women's sports. He believes this is a terrible violation of the taxpayer dollar, and the fight continues and the president will not set back. “This is a common sense policy, with 80% of Americans, including over 60% of Democrats, who don't want men in women's sports.”

A recent New York Times/Ipsos survey found that the majority of Americans, including the majority of Democrats, do not believe that trans athletes should not be allowed to compete in women's sports.
Of the 2,128 participants, 79% identified as women, biological men, said they should not be allowed to participate in female sports. Of the 1,025 identified as Democrats or Democrats they rely on, 67% said trans athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.
Conservative activist Riley Gaines vowed to help release all lawmakers who voted against the protection of women and girls in sports law.
“In some of these private, secret conversations I had with a few democratic senators, they assure me that men know that it's ridiculous to fall into women's sport and that they don't want their daughters to do that. But they hide behind many different excuses.”
