JuJu Watkins is just four games into his second season at USC, but he's already reached an impressive milestone.
On Friday, the 19-year-old USC guard scored his 1,000th career point.
Watkins reached the coveted point benchmark at the second-fastest pace in NCAA Division I history. She also accomplished the feat in two fewer games than former Iowa State star Caitlin Clark.
Clark, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, remains NCAA Division I's all-time leading scorer in men's and women's basketball.

Friday's game against Santa Clara was the 38th game of Watkins' college basketball career. With less than seven minutes left in the third quarter, he hit a jump shot and reached the 1,000-point mark.
Caitlin Clark is at the top of the list to be the next NBA 2K cover athlete. Angel Reese may also appear.
LSU's Marie Jackson, Oregon State's Carol Menken and New Orleans' Sandra Hodge all reached the mark in 37 games. It also took Weber State's Kathy Miller and Delaware State's Elena Delle Donne 38 games to reach their 1,000th career point.

Watkins was a standout high school basketball player in California, winning multiple national player awards. She has been a regular scorer since moving to the next level, finishing her freshman season with 920 points.
She also became the 31st player in USC history to reach 1,000 points. Cheryl Miller reached the 1,000 point mark in 48 games. Miller's 3,018 points remain the most by a single player in USC women's basketball history.
Miller became a regular at USC games last season. Just before Watkins' debut in the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament in March, Miller offered Watkins words of wisdom.

“I want you to find a quiet space where no one else is around, where it’s time to breathe.…I’m not worried about the physical, you’re just a young child. , it's going to continue to grow 'on your body,''' Miller told Watkins when he sat down with Andscape in March.
“But what I'm concerned about from you is mental fatigue. It's not basketball. … It's the business side. That's what I need from you to find a quiet space.”
