The Virginia High School League (VHSL) announced Monday that the Executive Committee has voted to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order, “Stop men from women's sports.”
Trump signed an executive order last Wednesday, fulfilling one of his main campaign promises to protect biological men from girls and women's sports.
The order was signed by Nationals Girls and Women on Sports Day, celebrating female athletes in women's sports and those committed to providing equal access to sports for all women.

VHSL, which manages the state's high school sports, will comply with executive orders that will come into effect immediately.
“VHSL is an association consisting of 318 member schools with over 177,000 students participating in sports and academic activities each year. VHSL is a governing body, and member schools are responsible for policy and guidance. It depends, therefore, therefore, therefore, VHSL will comply with executive orders,” said John W. Havn, VHSL executive director, in a statement.
“Compliance provides a clear and consistent direction for membership.”

The statement also noted that the VHSL Executive Committee directed staff to immediately propose policy changes in the form of emergency laws to comply with executive orders. The language will soon be adjusted in the policy manual.
“This doesn't have to be long. It's all about common sense,” Trump said before signing the order last week. “Women's sports are only for women,” he added.
“The war with women's sports is over,” he said.
Since Trump signed the order, the NCAA has officially banned trans athletes from participating in women's sports. Their announcement came one day after signing. This is a quick response to the university's governing body.
“Student-athletes assigned males at birth may not compete in female teams,” the new policy reads. This policy allows biological women to compete in male sports.
“The NCAA is an organization consisting of 1,100 universities in all 50 states collectively registering over 550,000 student-athletes,” NCAA President Charlie Baker said in a statement. “We strongly believe that clear, consistent, unified eligibility standards will best serve today's student-athletes, rather than a patchwork of conflicting state laws and court decisions. That's why President Trump's orders are It provides clear national standards.”

White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt said at a briefing before signing the executive order that Trump “supports Title IX promises.”
“President Trump has pledged to restore common sense to our country, and he continues to provide it with an executive order signed later today,” she added. “The President signs executive orders to keep men out of women's sports to protect athletes' safety, protect competitive integrity and to keep Title IX's promises.”
Leavitt also called on the Senate to pass protections of the women and girls sports laws sent last month. The bill prohibits biological men from participating in sports teams at girls' schools, while also amending federal laws to ensure that student athletes must participate in school sports that are consistent with fertility.
