A university associate professor who was appointed to the Minnesota Department of Education by Governor Walz called for the “overthrow” and “dismantling” of the United States in a video posted more than two years ago.
Dr. Brian Rozenski is an associate professor of urban and multicultural education in the School of Education at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, according to his personal blog.
He also belongs to several organizations, including the Education Liberation Network (EdLib MN), the Network for Black Child Development, and the Twin Cities Solidarity Committee.
Rozenski was also appointed by Walz to the state Department of Education to help develop an ethnic studies framework of standards.

In a video first reported by National Review and posted to YouTube by Solidarity Network on June 19, 2022, Rozenski spoke to the panel about his research. He also touched on critical race theory, a school of thought that generally focuses on how power structures and systems affect racial minorities.
“We don't use critical race theory in schools,” Rozenski said. “The first tenet of critical race theory is that the United States, as constructed, is irredeemably racist. So if the nation-state, as constructed, is irredeemably racist, then it has to stop. It has to be overthrown.”
“You could say, 'No, no, critical race theory is just about telling our stories and our diversity,'” he added. “It's not about that. It's about overgrowth. It's insurrectionary.”
Harris remains silent on the issue of reparations, which she endorsed in the 2020 presidential election.

Rozenski also told the panel that many people don't understand critical race theory and that we need to be more honest about the idea.
“This is an anti-national theory that says the United States needs to be broken up,” Rozenski said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to both Walz and Rozenski for comment on the statements made by their Education Department appointees.
A Wall Street Journal article last month noted that Minnesota's Walz administration has relied on dedicated political activists like Rozenski to guide the development and implementation of state education policy.
