Nearly nine months after losing to Michigan in the national championship, the boys in purple defeated the Wolverines 27-17 on Saturday.
The teams are now Big Ten rivals, making it a rare rematch in the national championship.

Washington jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but the Wolverines scored 17 unanswered points and eventually took a three-point lead midway through the third quarter.
The Huskies tied it with a field goal early in the fourth and took the advantage after forcing a punt. But Will Rogers threw an interception, throwing away all momentum.
However, Michigan also lost a fumble with its own 32 points, and Washington did not waste this opportunity. Jonah Coleman ran three times for 32 yards and found the end zone to give the Huskies a 24-17 lead with 6:22 left.

Michigan converted on fourth-and-inch, but the next pass was intercepted on its own side of the field. Washington then sank a 32-yard field goal with less than 70 seconds left, up two possessions and essentially ending the ballgame.
Both teams look much different than they did in the national championship game, as Michael Penix, Roma Odunze and JJ McCarthy were taken No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 in the NFL Draft, respectively. Blake Collum and Roman Wilson from the University of Michigan also joined the league, as did Jalyn Polk from the University of Washington. Both teams now have new head coaches leading their programs.
Will Rogers completed 21 of 32 passes for Washington, throwing for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Denzel Boston and Giles Jackson were on the receiving end of those scores, combining for nine receptions for 158 yards.
