Bravo has a big bet on ZZ descendants of some of the most famous stars from the “real housewife” franchise. The network released a trailer for “Next Gen NYC” this week. This is a show that follows the lives of four young reality sions and fellow influencers as they navigate work, life and love in Manhattan.
For the real-life enthusiasts between us, imagine “The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” meeting “NYC PREP.”
For everyone else, here is an introduction.
Who is on the show?
The cast features four “real housewives” descendants. Ariana Beerman and Riley Barth are the daughters of Kim Zorsiak Beerman and Kandi Barth, former daughters of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Brooks Marks, son of Meredith Mark, the favorite of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” and Zia Judith, daughter of Theretha Judith, the legendary “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
The rest of the cast consists of a handful of influencers and so-called NEPO babies, including Ava Dash, daughter of record executive Damon Dash and fashion designer Rachel Roy. Emira D'S Spain, model and influencer who will become Bravo's first full-time transcast member. Georgia McCann, a creative strategist bravo, describes it as “New York's ultimate generation z it girl.” Charlie Zakkour from Crypto Trader and Club Kid. Hudson McClelloy, Beerman's only award-off boyfriend and heir to fast food chain Zacksby. Scheeflctor is an assistant to the Wall Group.
What kind of drama can you expect?
“Next Gen NYC” appears relatively restrained compared to several high-stakes dramas in the edition of “Real Housewives.” (Legal battle! Shocking divorce! A physical argument!) But the show teases Dash and Beermann for silence of fashion, Beermann curses Marks, and Judith says, “This is so stupid.”
There are also dramas specific to the young New York transplant, such as Beermann boarding the subway and declaring that he “absolutely stoned” or accidentally throws a phone into the Hudson River.
Are there any cameos for “Real Housewife”?
According to Bravo, there will be a lot. All the housewives whose children appear in the show are scheduled to appear. The trailer released this week gives viewers a glimpse into the “turbulent work relationship” with their mother. Marks' husband and Brooks' father Seth Marks also weighs heavily on the trailer, saying his son has a troublesome question about his sex life and is obsessed with his mother “like a little baby kangaroo.”
Is it worth watching?
Honestly, this series feels like a deep cut. Those who are not bravo obsessions need to approach them carefully. But for those who can rattle off all housewives in memory, the show premieres Eastern Time on June 3 at 9pm on Bravo and will be available the following day at Peacock.
