Everyone has five or six things that can make or break a vacation. Items that become clutch when you need to quickly support your health, hygiene, or simply your comfort. Call it a Travel Emergency Stash, Travel Essentials Kit, or Save-the-Day Bag. Whatever the name, it contains important useful items stored in a roller bag or checked luggage.
Important travel needs like prescription drugs can go into your backpack, wallet or other personal items, but save bags have the items you need for longer trips in your hotel room or rental.
Jennifer Monna, a former flight attendant in Washington and current diplomat, said she always packs bags of her favorite drinks.
“I stuff these Decaff coffee packets. Decaff is hard to find in other countries, so you can't expect your host to offer you Decaff,” she said. She also recommends bringing a multi-type power adapter. This doesn't take up much space.
What's in your save bag? Below are some of the staples that will make your next trip even more comfortable.
Eye masks and earplugs: Don't forget them by stuffing them in a Sunday bag – and sleep. Even if you don't use an eye mask or earplug at home, it's best not to lose your sleep in the drapeless window or the rough bar next to you.
Emergency Medicine: Everyone's health talk is different, but in most cases, a few medications can help during the holidays. This may include basics such as Tylenol, aspirin, melatonin, and vitamin C. More personalized stashes include thermometers, Covid-19 tests, rehydrated tablets, mirarax, gas x, ear or eye drops, allergy pills, insect repellent, condoms, birth control, strained products, and more.
Some people are considering bringing common antibiotics with them, but doctors may not want to prescribe medication before you get sick. The key is to charge your medical supplies before and after each trip, and throw away anything that somehow expires or deteriorates (imagine a bag sitting in a hot tarmac).
Electronics Accessories: Think of a universal adapter that works all over the world. This way you can charge it in China and blow dry it in Brazil. Additional cables for mobile phones, USB devices and laptops are also suitable. (However, batteries or power banks can only be transported on carry-on vehicles, depending on the transport security management regulations.)
Personal Safety: Door stop alarm, a small wedge that makes a loud noise when someone opens your door, and you may sleep well at night. Similarly, her birdie personal alarm can be attached to a wallet or backpack, and can beep loudly when pulled on it. Also, you cannot bring pepper spray or maces into Carrene, but some airlines and destinations are allowed in check bags. Please check the rules before packaging.
Baggage Scale: Have you got some bottles of Argentine Malbec? Have you been overshoped at Marrakesh Medina? It is not so uncommon to find checked suitcases that can get heavy on your feet on the way home from a trip. However, for some airlines, the cost of an overweight bag can lead to a depressing scene at the airport check-in counter. Before heading to the airport, consider that you can whip reliable luggage scales, hide folded bags, or pack extras that you might pick up.
Additional underwear set: self-evident.
Toiletries to calm your body and mind: I forgot to stuff toothpaste for a business trip. Make your travel life easier by storing your favorite, most important cosmetics back-ups in a checked pouch.
Simple treasure: laundry work. Hair band. Match. pen. There are some random household items that can help you solve troublesome problems when you're on the road. Think about it: laundry detergent packs, pocket umbrellas, sewing machine kits.
“I always bring laundry detergent sheets,” said Kate McCurry, a travel content creator based in Prague. “I had to go out and buy it myself many times.”
