Pope Leo XIII is recognized on the Chicago White Sox ballpark rating field to commemorate attendance at the 2005 World Series.
The team is set to unveil Monday's graphics honoring the Pope.
Last week, Chicago native Robert Prevast revealed that footage of his White Sox fandom and Prevast, who participated in Game 1 of the 2005 World Series, surfaced on social media.

By pure coincidence, Prevost was exhibited on MLB on the Fox broadcast of that game on Cellular Field in the US on October 22, 2005, with cameras catching him at the top of the nine innings as the White Sox defeated the Houston Astros 5-3.
New graphics in the Rate Field mark the place where they cheered Chicago for the future with the first 5-3 of the title's four-game sweep, Game 1 victory.
The team said the pillar artwork commemorates the Pope's Chicago roots and “the unified power of baseball on the world stage.”

According to the White Sox, the Pope joined the game with the late Ed Schmidt, a family friend and season ticket holder. They knew each other through their work at Catholic high schools on the south side of Chicago. Schmidt's son Nick continues to be the account holder for the Pope's World Series seat.
The White Sox, who have struggled in recent years, and their fans have embraced their connection with the new Pope since he was elected. The team said they sent their jerseys and hats to the Vatican after the announcement.
