I'm a proud progressive Democrat, so some people may be surprised to see me joining Donald Trump's Truth Social Media Platform this week.
Let me explain. This week, House Republicans are trying to hand over Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill,” which strips health care from more than 8.6 million Americans through Medicaid cuts, despite only 6% of Americans supporting Medicaid and Medicare cuts, according to a recent Fox News poll.
Washington Republicans aren't just contacting Democrats and independents about this. While only 11% of Republican voters support the cuts, almost 100% of House Republicans are pushing for the largest Medicaid cut in American history.
Chairs and Methods: “Repeatable validation for people using Medicaid will save nearly $200 billion.”
If Republicans push for massive cuts to programs like Medicaid, Democrats can't preach to the choir. You need to reach out to working people from any stripes or political parties who may face these cuts. I know that most users of True Social are more conservative than me and are opposed to me on some issues, but I also know that many agree that billionaires have a great influence on our politics.

When I think about how to reach out to people who don't agree with me about some issues, I think of how I started my career: as a worker organizer. I worked at construction sites and opposed many issues, but I united the workers who could come together to demand better wages and working conditions for their superiors.

That's what I think we need to do as a Democrat. We may not agree with us on all issues, but we reach out to those who are concerned that Washington Republicans are cutting programs to help workers pay billionaires tax cuts.
It's not just Medicaid. Look at Social Security. In the same Fox poll, only 5% of Americans want to cut it, but Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said that President Donald Trump empowered people like Elon Musk, who called it the “Ponzi Plan,” and complained about “con artists” missing out on checks. And they fired so many people, the head of the Social Security Agency warns that the system could “collapse”;
Of course, joining a social media site doesn't solve the problem. We should communicate with conservative voters everywhere. That's why I came on Fox News and traveled to three Red Congressional districts to host in-person town halls where Republican lawmakers do not hold them for their own members.

Of course, I often talk to progressive media and post on platforms like Bluesky. And it's not just where we go. We must make sure that people know that we are fighting for the working class.
And even if you don't agree with us on any issue, you need to make sure people know that they are welcome in Democrats. I'm a progressive Democrat and I'm not going to change my position or obscure anything, but I want people to know that I'm focused on making the lives of all working-class people better. So, Democrats need to focus more on issues that are most important to people's lives, just like GOPs cut Medicaid and Social Security.

Even if you oppose me on some issues, if you want to oppose Medicaid and Social Security to these cuts and want to get government back from the billionaire class, I would like to talk to you and find a place where we can work together.
I'm happy about that on any platform.
